Artwork Information
This artwork used for this blanket is by Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重). A vintage Japanese art piece titled "Megane Bridge at Otani in Yamashiro Province", shows the Megane Bridge spanning a river at Otani Temple, with blossoming trees, in the Yamashiro Province.
The artwork has been upscaled, cleaned up and remixed by Sumi Market to create an original piece without compromising the original artwork.
About the Artist
Utagawa Hiroshige, born Ando Tokutaro (安藤 徳太郎), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, considered the last great master of that tradition.
Hiroshige is best known for his horizontal-format landscape series "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido" and for his vertical-format landscape series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo".
How It's Made
Our blankets are made from 100% cotton and are completely woven.
This means the design is not simply printed or dyed onto the blanket, instead the artwork is woven by carefully weaving different coloured yarn to create the blanket.

Blanket, Throw or Tapestry
Sumi Markets' woven blankets can not only function as cozy blankets to keep you warm on cold days, but they can also be used as tapestries!
Hanging cotton in your rooms is not only an aesthetic choice, but it comes with other added benefits too! It will soften light, creating a cozy atmosphere and it will reduce echo by absorbing sound vibrations. (Plus Japanese artwork looks amazing using our weaving technique).
